Victorian Stained Glass Details
Details of Victorian and earlier stained glass taken in Churches within the county of Oxfordshire. Manufacturers or designers of the glass is stated when known. The craftsmanship continues to amaze me,especially from designers and painters like Charles Emer Kempe and makers like Heaton Butler & Bayne who were producing incredible pieces from the middle of the 1800s, at the peak of stained glass revival. There were many company’s producing glass at this time , too many to mention here. The details here in my images display what is often overlooked in stained glass due to the glass being high up, and unreachable, or it just simply goes unnoticed. Images of whole stained glass windows give a sense of scale and great colour combination’s and effects, but for me the beauty is whats happening up close and inside!!
